Position Description
The Project Manager (PM) manages the complete lifecycle (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closing) of complex, multifaceted translation and localization projects in support of NLG’s clients, business objectives and ongoing operations. The PM works closely together with internal (NLG client teams) and external stakeholders (clients, but mostly suppliers) to ensure proper execution of projects maintaining and improving efficiency in all steps of the translation and localization workflow while at the same time ensuring compliance with the NLG standards, practices and policies. PM’s primary goal should be to deliver a high-quality final output which complies with the client’s requirements/expectations and contributes to achieving excellence in client service.
Responsibilities
The following is a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities and areas of ownership of the Project Manager
- Manage localization projects from beginning to end, developing project plans and workflows, managing schedule, budget, resources and quality control
- Manage and support the external teams ensuring successful execution of activities and meeting clients’ expectations Monitor and control all project activities, and resolve project-related questions or issues that arise during the course of the project
- Excel in the use of CAT & QA tools
- Manage project documentation/instructions and maintain project & translation assets
- Effectively apply NLG’s processes and enforce project and quality standards
- Communicate effectively with all internal (team members) and external stakeholders (clients, suppliers)
- Collaborate with internal teams to initiate and implement procedural changes, improvements and customized workflows
- Be knowledgeable about clients’ industry, products and related aspects (trends, technology, common challenges, best practices, regulations, legal aspects)
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the translation and localization industry (technology, solutions, services, workflows, trends, competition)
- Commit to continual personal improvement and education
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Desired project management experience in the translation and localization industry
- Desired experience in the use of CAT (SDL Trados Studio and/or memoQ) and QA tools (Verifika, QA Distiller, Xbench)
- Fluency in English (written and oral), skills in additional languages a plus
- PC literate with excellent MS Office skills; a strong ability to learn and master quickly the technology, and tools required by the account
- Well organized, detail and technology-oriented with proven problem-solving capabilities
- Creative and critical thinker – positive “can-do” attitude
- Excellent management and organizational skills
