The Life Sciences Industry Forum Workshop, Thessaloniki 2019
NLG had the honor of hosting the 1st Workshop of the Life Sciences Industry Forum on September 19th & 20th at our operations center in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Following the two previous successful Roundtable events, this year NLG had the pleasure of gathering together members of the Life Sciences Industry Forum from Europe and North America for a two-day event, full of insightful discussions on localization process challenges and best practices.
The Life Sciences Industry Forum (LSIF)
The LSIF is a newly established community that brings together medical device and diagnostics industry leaders to share knowledge, best practices, and experiences on topics of broad and current interest. Professionals from all over the world come together to delve into topics addressing the new MDR and IVDR, Translation quality management, Digital Transformation and KPIs for the localization industry through informational presentations and peer group discussions. The forum’s main objectives are to develop and establish labeling and localization guidelines and best practices that will represent new standards for the Medical Device and IVD industry.
Under this initiative, over the last several months more than 40 professionals from different Life Science companies and LSPs have elaborated on these specific topics in regularly scheduled web-based meetings. The enthusiasm and active involvement of all forum members led to a successful 1st Workshop in Thessaloniki. Alongside NLG, there were 16 other professionals in attendance, representing industry leading companies in the field of medical devices, in-vitro diagnostics, and analytical instruments.
The 1st Workshop
The first day of the event was dedicated to round-table discussions on the five major topics, driven by five working groups. These groups were established in the forum specifically for this purpose. The topics are:
- Source Content Quality
- Terminology Management & Controlled Language
- Translation Workflow, Process & Tools
- CAT and QA Tools
- In-Country-Review, Process & Qualifications
During the second day of the workshop, the forum members had the opportunity to attend thought-provoking presentations and insightful open discussions on MDR- IVDR, Digital Transformation and Machine Translation topics.
As a member of the Life Sciences Industry Forum, we are proud to contribute to these unique and significant actions that can globally impact the Life Sciences industry, and we are glad to help promote the benefits of this initiative.
We are now already looking forward to the next Life Sciences Industry Forum Workshop!
